Whether it’s a stressful season, rocky relationship or a crisis in the making, therapy can be the best medicine for trying times. I believe finding a good therapist is better than chocolate – and here’s why.
In today’s episode of Your Money Minute with Tracy Stewart, CPA, I want to share a few tips for finding a great therapist. How do you find someone you can trust? You ask around. talk with your friends and see if they’ve heard of anyone who’s worth talking to. Sometimes you may even know a therapist personally — and can reach out to ask who they’ve heard is good.
Finding a therapist is a deeply personal decision. You have to feel comfortable talking with this person — and taking their feedback. Visit a few therapists and get to know them before committing to any one professional. Momma’s right — shop around on this one.
Why talk with a therapist? Because you never have to worry about them growing tired of your problems. They’re honest and fair and have heard it all before — you’re not going to catch them off guard. They’ll offer objective advice that can help you consider your options. Plus, your friends are more prone to telling you what you want to hear — where a therapist offers you truth seasoned with experience.
Keeping your cool and managing your emotions will help you find financial independence — and believe me, it’s unbelievably liberating.
