As much as we’d like it to be the case, life doesn’t just take care of itself — especially when it comes to your finances. At age 50, life’s adventures are just picking up and it’s time to start considering how you’re going to fund the long journey ahead — and here’s what I recommend.
In today’s episode of Your Money Minute with Tracy Stewart, CPA, I want to talk about why you should work with a financial planner at age 50. Just like you’d see a doctor for a medical checkup, a financial planner will help you make important decisions about the big questions looming in your financial future.
Google is great, but there’s no amount of web surfing you can do to patch together a plan for your unique set of circumstances. Everybody is different! Your family… Your lifestyle… Your cash flow… Your goals… It’s all different. You need a professional to sort through your specific situation and develop individualized recommendations on how to make the most of your money.
My advice: Find a reputable financial planner that gets you. Work with someone you feel comfortable with and who comes highly recommended. You’re a smart cookie, but it’s best to leave the financial work to those who crunch numbers and count beans for a living.
Financial independence is unbelievably liberating. Make sure that every dollar and cent counts by working with a financial planner now. A professional can help you make the most of your money and help you sort through questions you didn’t even know you needed to ask.
